Pulsatile Tinnitus

There are different causes of tinnitus. One of them is blood vessels disorder. In this type of tinnitus patient experiences ear noise as a rhythmic pulsing which is often in time with the heartbeat. Usually a person hears thumping, drumming, beating, pounding, throbbing sound inside his head. This type of tinnitus also called as vascular tinnitus because it mostly related to blood flow.

Causes of pulsatile tinnitus:

Pulsatile tinnitus sufferer may have what a glomus tumor. It is the cause of more than 10% of diagnosed tinnitus. However this tumor is a non-cancerous mass of entangled blood vessels growing near your ear. The pulsating sound can be caused by the blood flowing through those vessels.

Atherosclerosis is a disease affecting arterial blood vessels. It is a chronic inflammatory response in the walls of arteries, in large part due to the accumulation of macrophage white blood cells.

Hypertension. Many patients with high blood pressure have tinnitus. Interestingly enough they report that tinnitus subsided for most of them after four to six weeks after beginning of taking pressure medications. They developed tinnitus from elevated blood pressure and it resolved after medication reduced the pressure.

The treatment of tinnitus greatly depends on what caused the pulsating sound. If the cause is a tumor or narrowed arteries, then surgical treatment may be required. On the other hand if it is high blood pressure, then blood pressure medication would be the right treatment. Those are the conventional methods of treatment. Besides them alternative treatments such as herbal and homeopathic along relaxation therapy are also typical methods of treatments for pulsatile tinnitus.
